Description
Back from a few days in Portland visiting friends & family. I was hoping to do some shooting in town, as there are so many interesting photographic opportunities there, but the one day we got to spend downtown it was raining (raining in Portland - who would have thought?), so only a couple of urban photos to post. We did go on a nice forest hike one day, so I will have photos from that day.
This is a mural called "Capax Infiniti" (Latin for "holding the infinite") painted by an artist named Faith 47 as part of a week long public art project organized by a group called Forest For The Trees. It's located at the corner of 11th & Washington (SW)...

The gray skies seem to work well with the mood of the mural. Nice photo!

The sight itself is most unusual. But the photograph does it genuine service. I love the composition of the street in the left-most quarter of the shot. It makes the frontal wall all the more frontal. You brought out the deep reds and browns intensely, and the long rust-brown lines of the woman stand out strongly as a result. It all contrasts so well with the deep red browns of the street, and the green/yellow carpeting of the grass. And a lone dog walker, with dog---a touch of street shooting in its midst. You handled a striking sight quite well. I love the cornices on the building's left, as well as the detail in the bricked-over windows. Fine job with urban art!

Nicely done and a piece of urban art that I can actually see what the artist intended me to see! Yeah!!!!
