Description

Messerschmitt M 17 Flugzeugbau Messerschmitt, Bamberg 1925 After experiments with gliders and motor-gliders Willy Messerschmitt designed his first light aeroplane, the Messerschmitt M 17. The M 17 was the first light aeroplane to cross the alps in 1926. Technische Daten: Spannweite: 11.60 m Ruestmasse (ohne Pilot) 186 kg Abflugmasse: max. 370 kg Hoechstgeschwindigkeit: 150 km/h Reichweite: ca. 600 km Triebwerk: Luftgekuehlter 2-Zylinder-Boxermotor Bristol Cherub II Leistung 22 kW (30 PS) This photo was taken on 30 December 2014, Sig....

A great capture but I can't imagine crossing the alps - I am guessing that it didn't have a heater!
