Description
A flight of Chilean CASA C-101 light attack/trainers skirting the edges of a storm.
When I thought I might try some alpha plane lightning, I did a little reading on storms, lightning, and aircraft and was surprised to learn that aircraft are much less susceptible to lightning in storm conditions because they have no contact with the ground and use static wicks to dissipate the strike from the metal skin. The real danger is windshear which can cause a sudden major loss of altitude and control and even possible structural damage to the aircraft. Since the altitude of a storm can range above 40,000 feet, flying over is often not a reasonable option. Good reasons to fly around the storm.
The CASA C-101 is the successor to the Hispano Saeta. It generally followed the design directions of the BAE Hawk and Alpha Jet. As with most trainers, it is a compact and efficient design, suitable for training, but easily pressed into service as a forward observation or light attack platform. A good example of this was the Cessna T-37 "Tweet" that was morphed into the A-37 Dragonfly. As far as jet aircraft this type comes closest to fulfilling my "low and slow" fetish.

I've seen allot of Aviation Art over the years and while most people tend to lean towards Piston ones, I know this is good! Very good! You can';t ever sideline trainer etc.. If there weren't those aircraft Fighters etc would never have pilots.. So.. Great job Bill, excellent job and well done also to Pedro, another fine and rare model Rob
