My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Superlative !!!!!!!!

She certainly stands out. Superb choice of composition. The blurred figures in the foreground serve to isolate the lady and the parasol and give the image a cinematic quality. You've seen those films where someone is briefly glimpsed through a passing crowd. Excellent work.

I've been in Paul's gallery before, and it's wonderful; and I appreciate your celebrating him here. Hope more people will see his work too. I know little about this type of photography, but I like what you did here very much. I know you've focussed on the center figures, and you have to manage the bokeh'd front and back figures, to make a balance and still let the center figure 'stand out'. The woman with the parasol is the key focus in your shot, and she does take the center stage, because of your angle and work with the varying degrees of focus/non-focus. And she's off-center, all the same, which will draw us to her for the very fact that she's emerging into the center rather than standing in it. I make a big deal about off-center composition, but it's really important. The rest is almost an abstract pastiche. A thoughtful and intuitive image, with plenty of chrome-like reflections to give it sparkle. I'd imagine this type of photography would be a concentrated affair. Lot of thought and intuition seems to go into these shots.

You succeeded Tara. Well done!

I think you succeeded marvelously here, and it's funny how we tend to think alike at times. Well...I only thought of photographing something this way, you actually did it. It's such a challenge to do, actually; I have a large collection of star wars action figures (and it's growing) and those little guys, gals, and others, are hard to photograph in such a way as to make them look like something other than hunks of hyper-detailed plastic (with vinyl clothing.) As for the little lead people, this is really superb. I love the sense of color and the wonderful DOF...you give a nice sense of scale, not our sense of scale, but theirs and I love the intimacy that you have captured here. Now I wonder who the lady with the yellow parasol is: what's her story? Who does she know, and what is she thinking (in that way that completely fictional people think of things...) What an evocative photo.

Beautiful focus out the crowd. I love it, Tara
