...shouldn't throw glass?
Another rural French village from my 2009 trip. I've been going through some of my older photos to see if I can use some of the postworking tools & skills I've managed to acquire (though I still definitely consider myself a novice) to salvage some photos that I had abandoned as being unworthy of sharing...
Please zoom.

Almost like a painting.

I like how the scene is done in almost monotone and how the structure falls away in step-like fashion from left to right. Perhaps you could take a soft burn brush, set at about 12 for midtones, and brush the sky... this would darken the blues and help make the clouds pop.

I ditto all comments except brewgirlca...since I know nothing about postworking tools other than re-sizeing.

You gotta do renovation more often---you're doing wonderful stuff with these! When you posted this, I thought of a flattened etching-like piece, or a painting that eschewed perspective to the point where the painter flattened the space (as we move up the image) into a face-forward frontal composition. I love the pile-up of it, and the way the background just comes 'at' us. And the overall yellowish/sepia/green tone, almost jaundiced. The leaves and stones and gravel have an almost carpet-y texture, and the sky is all soft and non-grainy. I really like this. Almost a folk-print.

Ala tara, I didn't notice that tree growing through the roof. The fact that it's off to one side makes it just one piece of a large piled up artwork. I'm glad you didn't center it, it's a wonderful discover. Thanks to tara for pointing it out...

Nobody noticed the tree growing through the roof from inside the building. What an amazing thing! Aside from that (although it's pretty spectacular) I love what you did with this image. Whatever it looked like before that you thought it was unworthy, you've absolutely "worthy-ized" it. Really fine postwork!
