The backdoor to the Cybertron Robotics warehouse swung open. April was standing in the doorway. “You involved a human?” she said with a certain amount of disdain. “Yes, she did, so what?” Rob asked a bit ticked off April was talking about him as if he wasn’t even there. “Rob, dear, it is wonderful that you want to play my hero, but April has a titanium alloy body and skeletal structure, she has 3 times my strength and can fold you in half without even trying,” Candy said. “It’s best if you don’t annoy her.” “Oh.” April just smiled at Rob’s discomfort. It was nearly 11:00pm when they finally reached the lab. Rob went to work right away. Friday he had a blank Angel model specially made and sent to the lab for further testing. She was laying on the table right where Rob expected to find her. “Candy, get on the other table,” he said. “It will take me a few minutes to get this thing all fired up.” “Have there ever been any problems with this?” Candy asked. “No, the whole process has been tested to death and then some,” Rob replied. “Is this going to take long?” April asked a little annoyed. “No, not at all,” Rob said. “We scan Candy and then we draw her mind in the Angel model’s mind. After that we put the Angel model in cryo-stasis; I’ve already hooked her up with a digital receiver so that everything Candy sees, feels, or does is recorded from now on in the Angel’s mind.” “So when I die I really do get to be an angel.” Candy smiled at the thought and it gave her the strength to face what was coming next. “April we have a brain here in the lab, I could make a mirror of you too,” Rob said. “You’re easier because you don’t need a new body right this second.” “No thanks, maybe later,” April replied. “Let me scan you anyway and if anything ever happens we’ll have you on disk and you can always return to this moment in time,” Rob said. “Or I can do a quick scan cloning where I just record surface memories and give them to your sister and she could do the same for you. It would be like a learning session for both of you.” That was something April could go for. She needed to see into the mind of her sister. More and more questions kept haunting her and she hoped that Candy had the answers. “What will this be like Rob?” Candy asked. “Candy your serial number won’t even be different,” Rob replied. “One day you will just wake up somewhere else.”
