Description
A country barn in Vermont, taken quite a few years ago. We usually have a colorful autumn here in southern Oregon, but it pales in comparison with Vermont in early October...
Please zoom.

Wow, now that is a classic. Get a hold of Vermont Dept of Tourism and offer to sell them the rights to this one... could not be more definitive New England. Love the saturation,

I have always heard About the northeast in the autumn, but have never been there before. I think I must add it to my bucket list. Thanks for sharing the beauty.

You've given this a certain softness, and I don't mean specifically soft filters, but a soft feel, in part maybe because all the hues seem harmonized with each other, or toned "into" each other---something about the colors here that softens the image into a dream. This is a sepia filled New England fall shot---the leaves get like that many times (others, they're blasting in saturated reds and yellows). That gives it a quiet, restful feel. And your composition is classic country shooting, as the barn is elevated in your pov, so looks quietly monumental, while the shadow and cozy surroundings give it intimacy. Monumental and intimate...(and the two roads diverging around it set it off). A gentle poem to the region. Beautiful work on this, Claude. (I met a lot of Vermonters and New Hampshire-ites when I lived in New England. Lord, in those days they looked you straight in the eye and didn't flinch. Something granite-direct about them. With a lot of "ee-yup"s and long pauses, and expressions like "it's a holler down the road," things like that. ((You holler, go down that far, and you've traveled a "holler".))I don't know if that old stock is still there...Also, ugh, the roads are windy and thin, and those farmers drove 30 miles an hour on a highway, mind you---ever go through this?---and they didn't budge; I mean they didn't budge; so if you got behind one, you were there forever because these were mountain roads and twisty, and there was no passing, ever; and the next exit would be miles away. So you just sat, chugging along behind this dude in his '45 chevy pickup with 40 chickens in back---who were enjoying the ride. And if you glared at the guy, while finally passing, he'd looked at you like a slab of granite: Unmoved. Not angry, just unmoved. Those people were made from the side of a mountain. Amazing place...)
