Description

The weather in the Valley (Phoenix) was beautiful. No clouds, temperature low to mid-80s (~28-29C). So I put the top down and decided to go for a drive. Even in the High Country, along Route 66, the temperature was around 72-73F (~22-23C). Driving along Route 66 between Seligman and Kingman, with Burma Shave signs along the road (something I hadn't seen since going through Missouri and Kansas in summer 1963 while on a Greyhound bus fresh out of Tech School at Chanute AFB, Illinois and on my way to my first PCS station in Payne Field, Washington), I stopped at Peach Springs and Truxton to take a few pictures. By the time I came back home, 101/2 hrs and 830 miles (~850 km) later, I realized that I gone a little further than I had meant to.
