Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I knew the streets are steep, but this really shows it.

Magnifique contrast in this capture of the iconic cable car negotiating the steep San Francisco street, Maz. I've driven those roller coaster streets before.

And a nice shot of Alcatraz in the background!

yet another shot I skipped over for reasons I can't explain...I love the harsh white light in contrast with those deep black shadows---the contrast hits us in the face. Which is nice, because the car itself is so quaint and intimate, yet the light and dark is very dramatic. Also the car is on a slight angle, which it makes it appear like a cute little animal, hobbling down the hill. A delightful shot of this oh-so archetypal sight in SF. (I gotta get there one of these days. I can't believe I've never seen it!) Very fine work, Marilyn. The light and dark is terrific.
