Description

We have had a pair of Egyptian Geese visit our complex in the last few years. They arrived a few days ago and joined me on my morning walk today. This is the best close up of the 26 photos taken. This male and female pair are identical except one of them has a hole in one of their webbed feet. The Egyptian goose is a native to Africa, south of the Sahara and the Nile Valley and were considered sacred by the Ancient Egyptians. They are 25 to 29 inches (63 to 73 cm) long. Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, and Germany have self sustaining populations which are mostly derived from escaped ornamental birds. Escapes have also bred on occasion in other places, such as Florida and New Zealand. Egyptian geese typically eat seeds, leaves, grasses, and plant stems. Occasionally, they will eat locusts, worms, or other small animals. They prefer to nest in trees and so far we have not found the nest. Some info from Wikipedia. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Absolutely fascinating creature. Judging from that expression, you'd wonder what on his (her?) mind. :)
