Description

Ok, so, I know better, but I got dragged into an argument with a 3D render purist (someone who believes that post work is evil), even though I should have just left it alone. I couldn't help it - he caught me in just the right mood and really ticked me off. That said, in all honesty I don't give a turkey if 3D artists use post work or not. That's kinda the whole point with art - the individual artist does their own thing, and that is why art is so beautiful, unique, glorious, and strange. I wouldn't have it any other way. I do post work and add filters because I LIKE to - that's all. But when I was accused of: "...using post work as a crutch for lack of any kind of artistic talent or knowledge of the 3D systems that you are using...." I got mad. Silly enough, this guy watches me - why, when apparently I'm a terrible person for putting out "pretend 3D art", I'll never know. So after our argument denigrated to the sending of raspberries (yeah, I know, I'm totally mature. I realize this. I'm only 38 so I have plenty of time for maturity when I grow up - don't judge), and I deleted the thread, I sat down and worked out this render. It was very cathartic. Now, YOU (you know who you are), just so you know, there is NO post work done at all to this piece, as it was set up and rendered in Daz 4.7 using the 3Delight render engine. The exception being resizing and the addition of my signature. There. Take that! To all the rest of you who have been so tremendously kind with your support, help, comments, and ideas over the years, as I learn and continue to learn, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Please know that you are all truly appreciated. Ok, I'll shut up now ;) All Hedge-witchery Studio artistic works are copyrighted materials held under the Canadian Copyright Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. IMHO, the guy is a wee bit off, the end result is what matters. I use a number of "evil post-work" programs, LMAO This is very cool work.

Well, I certainly hope that puts "that" to bed. OTF LMFAO, you tell him girl! IMHO, Post work is just another tool at our collective tool belts. To critique someone for using post work is like critiquing a carpenter for using a hammer when a rock would do the job. It just doesn't make any sense and it certainly is NOT constructive or helpful. Some peoples children! If you know what I mean. Great use of DOF, the use of light and shadow is very well done. I am not sure if the little dragon is late for an important date or if his alarm failed to go off, but either way, it is cool image.

lol, you're right - some people's kids! I use that expression all the time. I like your construction tool analogy - works quite well. As always, thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I always appreciate hearing from you :D

Nice one! Love the lighting. I've never understood why someone wants to turn all the art work into what THEY like. I may not understand why some people choose to do what they do but more power to them for doing it to suit themselves and posting it. Frankly I'm too lazy to do much post work and don't know a lot about how to do it anyway. You have a wonderful touch with all the do-das available so use away!

Thank you! And yes, I have no understanding of why some people want always to see art the way they would do it. That just takes all the fun out of it! Again, thank you so much! I always enjoy hearing from you :D

Beautifully composed. Dramatic. I agree, art is individual. Everyone has their own style. And either way they make great art. Mastery of 3D and art are 2 different things in my opinion. Keep it up. You are doing good.
