After the turn of the century In the clear blue skies over Germany Came a roar and a thunder men had never heard Like the scream and the sound of a big war bird Up in the sky, a man in a plane Baron von Richtofin was his name Eighty men tried, and eighty men died Now they're buried together on the countryside the Royal guardsmen Great capture

Yep that's the Baron in the distance at bottom right!

Are those real Fokkers? Or are reproductions? and what kind are the UK planes? If they are real must be fantastically restored! Super capture, Mate!

Hi Neto no they are exact reproductions. But they look sensational, especially when there are over 20 over them in the air at any one time. When one crashes, they fly behind the hill and at the same time a massive explosion occurs sending plumes of smoke and flames into the air. Great stuff. It is interesting that some of them didn't even have throttles, so there was just an on/off switch!!! So what you hear on the ground are the engines continually cutting out and restarting! And the bravery and flying skills that these modern day aces have is very much real!

Fun and wonderful shot!

Very cool mate, we have something like here.. The Great Warbird Display Team.. Dogfights etc but our PC world doesn't allow for explosions, might scare people. Bruce Dickinson (he of Iron Maiden) flies and owns a Fokker Dr1 Triplane.. Looks excellent mate, works brilliantly in black n white! Rob

It's actually not B+W Rob, just overcast!
