Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

The best & most colorful sock abstract I've ever seen! If I did this with my socks, it would be very dull - they're pretty much all different shades of gray...

What a wonderfully colorful jumble. The post work gives it just enough abstraction to make it less obvious what they are. As for the second image, somehow it makes me think of bacon perhaps because I haven't had any in a while.

I love the colors and the digifiddle is brilliant! The play of light and color is amazing. Such a fun image: it's it great to just rummage through a drawer, with a camera in hand? I should give this a try.

A gorgeous 'sock' draw - not worth posting mine - they are all the same color - white!!!!!

The flickr version is one of your closeups of colonized hues and edges, with lots of topographical activity and detail. I love it. This version has some of the same, but it's from a larger and broader perspective. It's also softer somehow. And the colonized fabrics are now interacting with each other as in a very crowded party, where they're mingling because they're practically on top of each other. My socks are all cotton, btw (I sweat royally in synthetics, unfortunately), and cotton socks don't have colors like these, at least not for men. I don't know the materials here, but it's a great looking bunch, and you've contrasted and textured them into a big abstract painting. Love it. Wonderful...I have to stop, to keep my arm intact (and I want to say hello in a few other galleries before I stop), but I'll be back for more. Always a joy to come back here, even though I see everything as it goes up. And btw, from the flickr shot, it looks like you have some long socks! Some formidable socks! A major collection of sock-wear...
