Description

I got a phone call yesterday from the state wildlife officer in my county. He said that someone had called him with a report of a "funny looking duck". Since he was out of town, I went to investigate. Boy, was I shocked! This is a Redheaded Duck. I had to send the officer a picture as I had NO idea what kind of duck this was. They were across a very large pond. This put them about of the range of my long lens, but I gave it my best shot, (pun intended). I think I am going to have to find a way to get closer as these guys are quite beautiful.

Great long shot! It looks right up close. You did a great job with this "stranger". I've never seen a duck like this, either. Interesting how great a variation we have in nature! Keep up the good work! :-)
