Description
I am trying to create my own highly vascular Bump map for a series of bodybuilder images I am creating. Does anyone know how to create a smooth rounded vein. The ones on the lower abdomen look right but those on the shoulders look weird. I have noticed on other attempts that if I use a white brush on a the black and white Bump map it looks elevated in some areas and depressed in others. I believe that I need to adjust some Bump map settings. Any Ideas????

If you're using Poser 5, try using your vein texture as a displacement map rather than a bump map. Don't know if it will work but it's worth a go... It still looks quite good though how you've done it.

I'd have to see the actual bump map to be sure, but it looks like you're putting a highlight at the top part of the vein, which is causing it to be raised, but since the lower part doesn't have the same highlight (or possibly even in shadow) it's making your vein look depressed at the bottom... use a soft edged brush that fades out as you go along, and make sure that your white-est coloration is right in the middle of the vein, and fades out to nothing towards both edges... hope that helps.

Definitly a smoother brush edge would help. The lines at the base of the vein are way too sharp. Try blending the base more into the background and over a larger plane.

Gaussian blur....that's all i'm saying..... ;)
