Description
I saw this fellow from a distance, about 20 minutes before my recent post "Budle Bay".
He was giving all the signs of having a bad case of hiccups, and wasn't remotely interested in me. I got this shot with a 24-105mm lens @67mm from about 10 feet away. I guess he'd eaten a bit more than he should & didn't feel inclined (or able?) to fly away.
I've never got this close to a cormorant before, or since; an unpleasant moment for him, but a magical one for me!
Thanks for looking & have a great weekend...
~Steve~

Very unapproachable birds, glad you got close with your 24-105. They always tend to steer clear of us, except the Chinese who use them for fishing:) Great shot!

This is a fantastic shot with the spray in the background Steve.

Agree with Jeff - great shot of the cormorant & the spray of water is icing on the cake...

perhaps it was a rat? :-) I know them and fisher men hate him... they eat pretty much...not easy to catch with cam, I tried if several times in flight... but with a hiccup... superb capture!

A stunner of a shot; maybe he thought he was hallucinating you ("that's the last time I'll have that many fish. Boy, the things I saw!") Love the detail in everything, beautifully captured!

Great capture,I think that after photographing, you ought to have scared him, to cure hiccups
