How To Catch a Leprechaun - A Poem For Saint Patrick's Day
Have you e’er looked upon
The clever elusive leprechaun
Well if you do it is told
He must give you all his gold
If a rainbow you chance to see
Get yourself to whereat it be
And if Irish luck is with you
You then just might luck into
The wee man’s potted treasure
Of gold coins beyond measure
But this can only be realized
If you gaze into his eyes
An act he’s promised not to allow
But it can be done and here’s how
The dwarf’s riches can be won
By doing what has to be done
You must spot him from far away
Then wait until the end of day
When the owl’s hoot is the only sound
And he’s confident no one is around
Stealthily approach his campsite
Grab him from behind and hold tight
And promise not to let him go
Until he pledges you all his dough
Turn him then and eye to eye
Look upon the little guy
You’ll see a twinkle then a blink
And what next do you think?
The pot of gold will magically appear
And as you’re smiling ear to ear
The elfin fellow will dash away
Shouting “Happy Saint Patty’s Day!”
