Description
Now you can see all of the path to the door as the snow recedes.
I noted on another photo of this cottage that it was built in 1926 but that may be wrong (was just going on what realtors said when it was on the market a few years ago.) This time I checked the information on La Porte's historic district gathered for applications to the national register of historic places which says it is the Leroy Kempf House built in 1928 and I would assume that is correct.
This prompted me to waste a couple hours looking into Leroy Kempf out of curiosity... I couldn't find much of interest on him beyond census and death records and a grave at Pine Lake Cemetery. Grave is for a LeRoy O. "Roy" Kempf 1902-1967. Census has LeRoy O. Kempf born 1903 and another Leroy Kempf (with different parents) also born 1903, so I suspect census confused the birth date of the two and the 1902 for O. Kempf is correct. As to which one of them built the house in 1928, can't say. Just a little too recent for my ancient books of local history so no info there, they would have been kids when they were written.

Love the house style. Envious of spring showing up where you are. Still 2 feet of snow. I can just begin to see the tops of the azaleas.

I'm not sure if you can call it spring yet, its going down to 32°F tonight so we might get some ice again.
