Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I agree with Andrea: this is a classy pic and I love the vibrant life evident in it. I mean, the colors pop and I really love the composition. It has that really great "you are there" vibe going, but then it should, you were there! Outside of that though, it gives the visual sense that the viewer is there, even if said viewer is in the gray, flat bits of the Midwest. This is a great shot! I love the vibrant color and the fact that it's made up of nothing but interesting parts...

Well done! Superb composition.

Oh, I know this place well! I've tripped over curbs and streetcar tracks, dodged traffic, and shopped those little shops across the street...wonderful capture!

Unmitigated beauty and composition in the pic, Maz. I never tripped over anything when I was there. I remember buying some cool T-shirts there. Lastly, where have you been? Your presence on RR has been few and far between lately.

Well I never tripped over---or didn't trip over---anything in SF, as I've never been there! But I hope to be there once before I die...I love how you caught everything above the roofline, or almost above it. Just a tad of roofline in the shot. It's mostly what stands above it---at least at this particular locale. I love the front wharf sign, almost floating in air (because its base is nowhere to be seen). And the signs in the background; and the bit of sign between the two poles on the far left. (Looks like a street-sign pole, and a traffic light.) The rest---just a muted, mysterious multi-hued early evening sky. A Marilyn shot through and through, for the wholly unorthodox composition, and the feeling that you shot the spirit of the place as much as the actual place itself. An early evening shot with all the mystery that that implies. I'll be back for a longer session soon---I'm overdue again! But I wanted to at least say hi in your gallery, again. You always do things in your own unique way. I love this.
