Description

Bryce Canyon sits on the edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau at elevations that reach 9,100 feet (2778 meters). As twilight fell I looked out at the lights of Panguitch and could see just how isolated it was.

What a gorgeous image. It evokes so much more than it shows, but it shows quite a lot! I love it when art does this. It doesn't matter if it's photography, painting, fiction, poetry, or song...that sense of evocation is what makes the outstanding bits what they are. This is outstanding. Low light photography is such a challenge, and you met that challenge gracefully! I love the subtleties that reveal themselves only when you've sat with this image for a while. I'm also struck by the manner in which the lights of Panguitch leave questions in my mind. I have some clue as to what I'm seeing here, and yet the evocative elements of this photograph make me question that, and other visions whisper through this image. It's so easy to see this and also see the camp fires of an ancient settlement; I love the timelessness of that.
