Description
Snow in full retreat in front of this neat home.
This Colonial Revival style house, built in 1925 or 1930 (depending if you want to listen to real estate listings or the historic district's info for register of historic places), is covered with wood siding, has single story sun porch addition on the south side, windows with multiple glass panes in their top sashes over a single pane of glass in their bottom sashes, gabled entry covers, and cornices that return onto the gabled sides.
The Colonial Revival style gained popularity after the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893
where it was heralded as an expression of the American identity. The style became increasingly popular
in the early 1900’s and remained a desired style through the first half of the twentieth century. This
revival of the style borrowed from Colonial America’s housing in form and ornamentation.
The Colonial Revival style is represented in LaPorte's Historic District by about thirty examples of typical Colonial Revival detailing and several examples of the Dutch Colonial Revival form. (a lot of them featured in previous photos posted though not always noted as such.)

it is a beautiful home and I like the paint color. back when I was working the oldest home I worked on was built in 1917, at least one I knew of the date. the oldest doors were from the 15th century from a monastery. I enjoyed working on the older homes, but often people would pay me to fix new homes when the builder would not come and make good on guarantees
