Description

Here we find an old Traverse City Iron Works fire hydrant. Traverse City Iron Works was founded in 1871 in Traverse City, Michigan. In a letterhead from 1890 the company described itself as a manufacturer of Steam Engines and Sawmill Machinery: Gang Edgers, Lumber Trimmers, Saw Guides. The company manufactured fire hydrants from around 1925 until 1978 when they were purchased by the Waterous Company of St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1989, the American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO) purchased the hydrant division of the Waterous Company. Looks best zoomed full size. Thanks for looking & commenting.
