There is an old legend that, when darkness falls, they come to life. I'm glad to see it didn't get you. This is a brilliant image, a true art piece. Its one of those "This is really cool. What the hell is it?" pictures. Andrea paid me a huge compliment recently which I pass along to you. "Artists SEE things. You are an artist."

Fantastically captured! Wow, besides a gargoyle it could also be one of those deep sea creatures with the hanging headlight thingy...great shot!

I love how you've embraced the darkness in this shot & left a lot to the viewer's imagination - excellent shot...

This is exquisite! Beautifully composed (of course, this is Tara we're talking about), light and shade creating abstract shapes that are really pleasing to the eye. I really don't care what it is - mammoth/gargoyle/overgrown pixie - it's wonderful. Thank you, my friend! (Sorry it's taken so long to respond - I had no internet access yesterday. Very frustrating.)

I really thought I'd commented on this! But I see I hadn't. I did SEE it though (and I think I mentioned it in a letter---I hope I did, because I loved it when it went up). You've told us what it is, generally, but it is both vague enough and yet highly specific enough to be any number of mythic creatures. The dark is wonderful---and rich---allowing the surfaces to emerge here as if from some deep past. It feels like a very old beast, a relic almost. Also there are many different textures on it, and that makes each part another world. Beautiful use of dark and light, and texture as well. A transformation. And a wonderful piece for Craig and his many years in the biological sciences. A beautiful dedi.
