Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Love an open fire, I used to see things in the flames, I see the dancer. Not a good neighbour then!!!!

This looks very special and one is stimulated to use ones fantasy by looking at it. It's indeed very interesting to watch the open flames . A bit spooky, but as you said also fascinating, huh?

Evocative flames - a shame you have a killjoy next door...

Brilliant, I remember your log fire. That miserable turd. should have invited him then put him on the bonfire, some people are just miserable S88T bags aren't they?

There is nothing better that a roaring, crackling, fire to sit beside.

Awesome pov of these interesting and fascinating flames. Perfect timing and perfect title Andrea. Shame on your killjoy neighbor !
Chipka
Killjoy neighbors: the only thing for them is a bonfire...and barbecue sauce; it sounds like he's already well-marinated, and I hear vitriol tenderizes the flesh, and you can cut the taste of it with a dash of Worcestershire. Just make sure to poke him: when he slides off the fork, he's done. Anyway...enough plotting... I love your dancer: an immortal dancer now, since no flame ever dances more than once. This is gorgeous, even in stillness, it's hypnotic.

Awesome capture!

Superb flame capture, which is harder than one might think!

the only issue with burning the old sod is the resultant smell....and then you'd have the neighborhood association complaining about the odour and we just can't have that now can we... I see the dancer quite easily. I love watching the flames as well

A delightful capture Andrea and I was in London for the 50th celebration of VE Day.

I was going to ask where the other reindeer were but this is mesmerizing. Beautiful capture. As for your neighbor, are bonfires illegal? If not, tell him to push off. And be sure to invite everyone to your next one except him.

Flames are so fascinating you can see all sorts of things in them, and as for your neighbour he would really freak out if he saw one of my bonfires I have a bit of a reputation for big.

I'm with Chipka - toast his ass!! Alternatively, a chimenea is nice & controlled. I burn my junk-mail in mine with a few twigs, and frazzle some smoky bacon in a barbecue thingummy while I'm at it. Washed down with a glass of something blonde & Czechoslovakian - though I'm guessing French and dark would be more your scene :)

OH Yes, this looks very beautiful :)
