Description
A very rare and elusive bird in my area, this was a difficult shoot due to low lighting available deep in the woods. To find her one has to walk aways, and just sit quietly and listen for their erratic slower drumming. Walk a bit more, and listen.
I was really pushing my gear as you can see from the lower shutter speed and higher ISO. Normally I like to use 1/1250 to 1/1600 on woodpeckers because they are always moving. If I had that would have pushed my ISO over 15000!
