Description

Don't know who these people are or whether they are actually a father & daughter, but that's my best guess. They seemed to be having a great time together walking on the beach & as I watched them for a minute or two, I began mentally speculating about their circumstances - what they were doing there, where the mother was, etc. Those of you who may have visited Bandon on the Oregon coast will probably recognize the distinctive rocks that it's known for... Please zoom.

There is certainly a story to be told here, and the truth of the story does not matter so much as the invitation to think of one. The characters are beautifully placed on left hand 1/3 power line, which is the most powerful place to put a character that will draw the viewers eye across the sweep of the image. There is a fine structure to the landscape and the reflections add interesting detail to the water. Well seen and composed.

What a wonderful capture; the reflections in the wet sand, the misty air, and the interaction between the two figures all make for a fantastic image!

If you browse my gallery as i know you sometimes do, you will realise that I favour brooding, dark skies. It has never really occurred to me to go high-key like this. I love the effect here, question is am I brave enough to try it myself?? A photo to study leisurely and ponder on. Thanks for sharing!
