Description
Although an approaching storm was limiting available ambient lighting, I tried (in vain) to click a few apple tree flowers, and then this little 'guy' came flitting along, an angel among the blossoms.... : )
It's not technically impressive, nor captured with an expensive marvel camera, however... extensions of the moment, sudden changes in perception, rarely fit into one dimension...

Every year hundreds of millions of monarch butterflies undertake a great journey of up to 3000 miles in their annual migration from Canada and the United States to their wintering grounds in Mexico. Once in Mexico the monarchs congregate in the oyamel fir trees of Michoacan and Mexico states (credit to: http://www.about.com/homegarden/ ) Determining gender is best left to the butterflies, but it is worth noting that these beautiful little creatures (and its children) are formed from a very toxic plant... milkweed. Milkweed roots contain the lowest amount of toxins. The toxins are highest in the bitter, milky sap, found throughout milkweed stems and leaves, hence the vulnerability of grazing animals. Sheep, cattle and sometimes horses may be poisoned by milkweed when they eat it in bulk.
