Rats! I think Truly Nolen has some serious competition.
nickcarter
I believe that Truly Nolen would do well to hire him as an exterminator of rats (eh eh eh)!

a vivid rendering of the old tale, at least the first part of the tale (where the piper leads the rats to their death). You've really made the piper stand out, by using rich reds and yellows on him, to contrast with the deep browns and darker greens (etc) of the rest of the image. And he's right up front, he's the very center of the image. Fine detail in the medieval village too, walled in with the big square in the center; and fine detail in the medieval architecture too. The rats look like they're dancing to his music, happy even as they march to their death. And it looks like one woman (in the background) is either dancing or conducting, as if conducting his music---she must be very happy to be rid of the rats (which, according to studies of the tale, were the same rats that carried the plague). I know this type of image takes a lot of time and planning---you did a fine job with it all. And the piper stands out as a burst of vivid hues and stripes, which makes him a hero of sorts. (In the second half of the tale, he lures children away as well...but here he's taking away a dreaded disease.) Really thoughtful work from you.
