Description
Page, Arizona is a pleasant little town that started life as a construction camp for the builders of the Glen Canyon Dam. The camp was needed because, when they came to build, there was nothing there. Here is some of that nothing, a rugged land of desert and scrub brush. In movie making this image is known as an “establishing shot”, usually a long shot at the beginning of a sequence to establish an overview of the scene that follows.
I call this image “Marlboro Country” since it has that generic western look the Marlboro Man rode across during all those cigarette commercials. An interesting note, five of the men who portrayed the Marlboro Man have died of smoking related illness.

Glorious colours! Tobacco company Philip Morris is suing Uraguay for adopting anti smoking policies. Their rep on British TV looked pretty ill too.

"Why, how dare you try and protect your citizens from being poisoned by out products. We are going to sue you!" The very definition of Chutzpah. The best description of Chutzpah was by Theodore Bikel: "If you kill your mother and father and then throw yourself on the mercy of the court on the grounds that you are an orphan."
