Description

Quick side note: Someone mentioned/complained about the watermarks on my artworks. I wish I didn't have to add those but they are required unless I want my work stolen. I have had artworks ripped from websites like Renderosity and not only "claimed" by others but sold on skinning and sig sites. I add the watermarks to protect my work and myself. It's either add the watermarks or stop posting any of my work to any online gallery. Creation Date: March 23, 2015 The two lovers have a last dance at the club before the ending of their film noir romance. This is a complete do-over (or redux) of an artwork I started on for a film noir contest back in 2011 but was never completely satisfied with. I started completely started over when creating this new version. I posed the figures in a similar close dancing way and kept the film noir theme. The original version was tall while this one is wide which turned out to be much better for this type of scene. I'm happy with the new version. It's very film noir-y. When I created the basic scene, the color of elements didn't matter too much as I knew I was going to be changing the final rendered image to black and white. It was the shade and contrast of each element that I needed to pay attention to. I used Poser's built-in depth of field to render that effect rather than doing it in postwork. For the lighting I used a combination of IDL and the Hollywood Noir lighting package by Colm at RDNA. The spotlight on the couple wasn't part of the 3D scene but an overlay of a "spotlight" image that I put above the render in postwork and set the layer style to "screen". To create the final black and white/film noir effect, I used a variety of filters and Photoshop actions along with a slight grunge overlay and a thin border.
