Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I like your version better. While I like the structure at top center it looks as if the additions were just thrown on top of the original. Doesn't blend well.

I like the digifiddle best. Wouldn't like all those to clean.

The flickr version is grand; it looks like some of the old architectural drawings that architects used to make. With the clean lines and the highly contrasted textures. An old, I fear lost art (one I cut my teeth on when I began---I mean, it was just 'drawing building facades', but it taught me the world about line, composition, balance, texture, etc). Really fine job. But now the 'actual' shot: Well, zoomed, it is on a grand scale. Such a pileup of glass surfaces! It has an old English flavor, elements of Tudor and so on. But it's very modern. All that open glass, and all those angled and opposing planes, etc. As for the capture, you got wonderful light off the top panes, lots of deep shadows in the browns and reds, very clear whites in the trim, rich light-muddy greens, and just a feeling of pileup of surfaces playing off each other. It's grand. A big eye grabbing bunch. I love this shot, the architecture fan in me comes to his feet at this. And the white sky sets off all the detail and hues perfectly.
