Description
Hi All
Having had linear workflow as a default in cinema 4D for quite a while now, for some reason it came as a surprise to me when I found the gamma correction button in Daz Studio today (I really need to start reading the damn manuals...).
Anyhoo I figured I would do what I always do, and press it and see what happens. I wasn't too surprised when everything went a bit flat looking and I figured I would be spending quite a while re-adjusting everything.
What did surprise me was how little needed adjusting to get things looking OK. All that I really needed to do was change the specular settings on the skin ( drop glossiness down from 60% to about 15% and lower the amount about the same) and turn on the silk settings to about 15%. The suit just needed the silk settings adjusted to tone it down.
The hair needed some silk added through the specular map which I blurred in photoshop to make it softer. I have also added a custom transmap to the hair on the final figure as I find they are never quite a high enough resolution for my tastes.
The only other adjustment I made was to move one of the distant lights more towards the front and up its brightness from 50% to 150%
And that really is about it. It sure beats my usual method of adding a ton of lights to a scene to get the effect I want.
Ah well, you live and learn....
