Description

My best friend's GORGEOUS wife Tracy. Those eyes... those eyes! For this shot I had a Yongnuo YN560 Speedlite in a 40cm square softbox right above her, pointing down and standing ever so slightly in front of her - positioned so that the edge of the softbox is just above her forehead. The trick is to get the fall-off light from the softbox to cast slightly darker shadows and give a little bit more contrast. If you examine the catch-lights in her eyes, you can see the softbox's position. I also had a 48cm Ring Light (65W) in front of her, about 1.5 meters away. Model: Tracy Hammond Make-Up Artist: Stavroula Georgakis Location: Studio, Johannesburg, South Africa Thanks in advance for all comments, favourites and watches. Even if I don't reply and say thanks to all of them, I really appreciate all the feedback I get. All images are copyright (c) Johann Marx. Wow! She is amazing!!! As gorgeous as her eyes are, they could use a little post work in PhotoShop, however. Two things...1) They are a little bloodshot. 2) She's either wearing colored contacts that make her pupils look really tiny, or for some reason, she doesn't look too happy about being there and who she's looking at. Larger pupils indicate that the person really likes what they're looking at...as in a person! It's a reflex! If you see someone you like, your pupils widen. If you see someone you don't like, your pupils shrink. If your lighting was really bright prior to the shot, it's possible they shrunk on their own, but that doesn't give the viewer the indication (psychologically) that they are liked and/or appreciated. It's a tiny little indication that humans pick up on subconsiously! Both these things are easily fixed in PhotoShop (or whatever). Beyond those two little things, your work is wonderful and I hope to see more of your work in the future!!! :) 5+++

Thank you very much for the great feedback! I had a constant ring-light in front of her that was quite bright, hence the small pupils. :)
