My name is Pete, I started using Bryce back in 2001. I dabbled for a few years then I had a PC crash in 2009 and I lost everything.
Â
Last year I downloaded it again and attacked it with a new vengence. I do not do many scenes, my renders focos on the object created. My work is Dark and Dystopian and mostly involves metals of one sort or another.
Â
Ive been a member here since 2007, lurking, looking and learning. The images I post are things Ive learned from all of you.

Really nice re-work here, Pete. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Technically ALL your stuff on your old hard drive is not gone. There are places that can retrieve information that has been deleted. It is or at least can be expensive, BUT it may be worth it. Food for thought.

Yeah just the stuff I had stored in the Bryce program itself. Ive got lots of previous models saved that I can load and recover Parts as well as textures and skies from. I have four hard drives mounted in this thing, I'm finding stuff I haven't seen since 1999 lol, And thanks for the compliment on this re work.

Wow what beautiful looking bike ! The colors, details, shadows and background work are amazing. Sad to hear about your crappy troubles. How-ever am very happy to see you back on the "Saddle" again. Looking forward to more...

Beautifully done on the rework,Pete, I know what you're talking about the same thing has happened to me several times with Bryce :( years of work lost ............*****

After my last crash I got smart and started saving every completed work as a BR7 file to an external drive. I have everything I created in the past year. Now its just a matter of loading each Model back up and Cherry picking the objects I want use again. Im really pleased with the New PC, Bryce is so responsive when I go to move or resize things, its like a new world. :^)

I learned not to save things in the same place as the program file and to make copies of files I like to keep on other media I don't remember to do it all the time but i am glad I do sometimes

Are you sure you lost all your old Bryce libraries??? Try to find if there is a "Windows .old" maybe you could find your old work.
woodywoo
What is Windows?
nickcarter
The fact of not knowing Windows, as you've seen, is your problem. Anyway, whatever your operating system, Linux, MacOs of Apple from your admirer gift you a word of advice: periodically saved the libraries on external support, so when you'll replace your computer doesn't have ugliest surprises. I greet you cordially.

Thank you Cyve I'm humbled and I love your work too. The Image you created for me has been taken to the Printer and I framed it and its hanging in my office.

fantastic bike as always you never seem to run out of marvelous new designs . There is plenty of free software that will recover lost files I used one my self to recover about !00GB of photos managed to get back about 90% , but it did take a long time (overnight and most of the next day)sorry I can not remember what it was called but a google search may turn up something.

I don't hold a candle to the quality work and renders your doing Iborg. Im retired and pretty much Homebound when my Wife is at work so I have nothing better to do than amuse myself and hopefully some of you. Its really odd because the only thing that got lost was the Bryce "User" libraries I had created. I had added some stuff to the Bryce 'Default' libraries and its all there. Hmmm ?

Fantastic bike! Sorry about the troubles. I, too, wised up and put everything on an external drive. So much quicker and easier. Good luck with it all. :-) Corrie

you make supeb work with Bryce. This model is wonderful. A great work for your whole gallery

Great render. Sorry to hear that you lost the presets. Yes, installing Bryce overwrites all existing libraries. Save them regularly to a location outside the Bryce main folder.

Amazing work.

Great creation, textures and reflections! Always impressive. I have all my stuff backed up onto external drives; which is fine until the day they fail!
