Description

Although it is hard to tell from this shot, this scene is not in some wild wilderness. It is right smack in the middle of Los Angeles. Most people are familiar with the Los Angeles River as a great backdrop for car chases and commercials, but over the past couple of years with financial assistance from the federal government there has been an effort to revitalize the river which is for the most part a concrete drainage channel that carries away water all the way down to Long Beach where it meets the ocean. For too long it has been looked upon as an above ground sewer system, but what this revitalization project has done is reintroduce green vegetation to the river and beautify the banks with walkways and bike paths. What's really amazing is to see the amount of birds now frolicking in the river, a sight I had never really seen before.
