Description
First of two views of the Roman Amphitheater in Arles. From Wikipedia:
"Built in 90 AD, the amphitheatre was capable of seating over 20,000 spectators, and was built to provide entertainment in the form of chariot races and bloody hand-to-hand battles. Today, it draws large crowds for bullfighting during the Feria d'Arles as well as plays and concerts in summer."
Not at all a fan of bullfighting due to it's cruelty, but it's part of the culture of that region. We certainly have our own forms of cruelty to animals in our culture, which I'm equally opposed to...

A most beautiful photo. I hate bullfighting, cultural heritage or not. We used to burn 'witches' in our cultural past.

A great pic and lovely old architecture.

What a gorgeous pic of the old and massive architecture. Awesome catch of the characteristics, colors and markings of the aged pillars and arches.

Imagine how long this took to build and still standing on it's own. We agree with your thought about animal cruelty of any kind!
