Your are the God in using Maya. Julain, you are crazy! I can't believe you did this. You didn't just capture the technical characteristics of an eye, you even captured the subtle characteristics which make it look human. You captured subtle characteristics like the graceful decent of the eyebrow into the cheeck bone, and then there's the actual ball. I marvel at your creation, and I really have to tell you how the bump map on the eyeball helps capture an incredible amount of realism too. If I described everything about this eyeball that I liked or thought looked human, the list would get annoyingly long. The care you have with maya shows the incredible dedication you have to this program in relation to your own incredible artistic abilities. Crazy work, man. Crazy work. ~Mix~

That's the best 3D eyes I've seen so far! It looks very lifelike. I totally agree with Mixednutt. I don't know if it's a bump map or with a specular combo, but it looks real!

This is absolutely amazing Julain, the guys above sayed it all, nothing more to say... except the fact that I'm so jealous...lol, I'll never reach to this stage of realism... how did you do the eye lashes?, is it fur?? I tried to use fur but it looks like crap on my model !!...

First, you kidnapped someone else son and put him in 3d world. Now, you do the same thing again. You are a great Maya modeler and texturer.Excellent work ! :)

This is not what I might consider a 'simple' eye test.

i dont think the eyes should be so bumpy, (the specular reflections) gives it a plastic look. Besides that it looks great

Julian, Great image! Care to talk about the way you are creating the skin shader to achieve the look? The pores in several small areas are a nice touch. At that distace from the camera you may even add more. Nice work man, very impressed.

Very very impressive although I must agree with Odin the eyes should not be so bumpy, that amount of surface irregularity would really mess with your vision.

jeeeesus, the only thing that gives away the fact that those are NOT real pictures, is that the surface of the eye is really bumpy. this is really amazing. once again i drool over and bow down to those who not only have maya, but can use it as well as this

Dude! Hold on, let me pick my jaw up off the floor. Ok thats better. Totally awesome! I agree with the comments on the bumpy specularity but other than that and the fact that you call it a "simple" eye test, I cant find anything wrong with it. Keep up the mind boggeling, jaw dropping work. You're an inspiration to us all.

Your texturing /surfacing skills are one of the highest I've ever seen. I need to give textures to my last head but I don't even know how and where to start. Do you have some nice tuts about it? Why don't you write one? ;>

the ONLY thing that's i can nitpick about this is that the eye is textured with a bumpmap when it should be a smooth reflection, otherwise, i would say it was a photograph!

by the way...what did you use for the eye lashes?...is it paint f/x or actual geometry?

Novakog

This is nearly photoreal! Like RaysOfLight said, the only thing that looks kind of odd is that the bump (or spec) map on the eyes is too significant, it looks like he's about to start crying.
