Years ago, in art class, our teacher told us: "The amount of space you place around a figure can be as important as the figure itself"...You have an innate sense of the right amount of space, in your paintings, Yves. This violinist is surrounded by white space, and it's just the right amount: It's not too much, and it's not too little. She flows through the space like she were made of wind...And I love how you painted those two red lines---they swirl her lower torso and make it sweep across the left side of your painting---this is a natural balance to the hands and violin in the right side of the painting. You articulated her arms beautifully, capturing the positions of a violin player. And ditto, the angle of her face: I studied classical piano for 14 years, and I worked with many violinists; and you captured the feeling and "presence" of a classical violinist, here. Her bow gives the top accent to the piece, just like her feet give the bottom accent......and, really, her feet are like the feet of a ballet dancer: a very sweet gesture, in the painting of a musician. And then there's the white space, itself: She seems to be playing in air--- fine musicians seem to be playing in air, they become "airborne"... More beautiful work from you, and beautifully done---both in line, space and composition. I'll be back for more this week---I suddenly have to leave, now. But I've been here for 30 minutes, so you know I've spent time with these pieces. (3 comments in 30 minutes: That's how slow I am!) In any case, I see all of your work, as it goes up. And also, I look at your work full-size: It's a shame that less than 1/5 of the people who commented on this image saw it full size: The small size is beautiful, but it doesn't show your long beautiful lines, and your wonderful use of enveloping space. Your work blooms in large size...Anyway, beautiful work as always, Yves...it's a pleasure.

Says so much in just a few simple lines. I like to imagine she's a muse, flying through the air. :)
