Description

Though the recently-departed winter wasn’t the worst in Chicago’s history, it nagged: like the promise of a headache. At the first signs of its departure, I did what I could to capture what I took to be warm days. On one such day, I walked from my soon-to-be-former place of employment, and photographed my way towards Oak Street. Upon my arrival at the aforementioned street, I decided to continue my amble along the lake shore. I had the beach to myself. It was still cold, after all. There wasn’t much going on, and—bored with familiar, oft-photographed stretches of Chicago—I decided to head home. This is what I saw as I left the beach. I liked the clouds. As always, thank you for viewing, reading, and commenting, and I hope you’re all having a great week.

I like the gradual climb from the dark contrast of the street to the brightness of the sky. Gorgeous capture.

It does loom, and almost seems to be leaning over toward you. The shadows and colours of those impressive buildings are almost jewel-like with the reflected light. Astonishingly beautiful, Chip!

I find clouds to be a reminder of natures potency over all of man's conceits. This bank which appears to be rolling in would dwarf the great city of Chicago or dare I say any major city on Earth. Indeed it would smother it (or at least neutralize it) should it come to the ground. Less than two months ago it was -35C (actually at that point it does matter much if it is Celcius or Farenheit) on a dark Sunday night and I was very much afraid that my car was not going to start and I might freeze to death in a big box store parking lot. My body can still take a lot of bashing but I was well aware of my looming mortality that night. Yesterday it was +30C and I had all my windows open and my fans on attempting to keep cool. That's a jump of 65C in about sixty days. Yes, my car did start after two or three tries.
