Hello!! from Jean. I live in UK north of Manchester and close to the Ribble Valley. I have two sons who live in the south of England , and Geneva. I have been interested in photography for years..in the sense of capturing people and scenes, but with a digital camera have become an addict. Photography enables unique moments to be captured and one learns to use one's eyes more searchingly. As I have absolutely no talent in conventional art it is a challenge to try to produce results with all the help available with software. As a overview of my gallery will show, I am a novice! I do like to experiment..usually with no fixed idea of where i'm going1 Just persist until the image pleases me. and the creative process is fun. Members of RR have been very generous with their comments and help, which is very much appreciated. I have learned so much of seeing other artists' work apart from the real enjoyment of viewing and having contact with other members.  I like to travel which gives added inspiration.... Many many thanks to you all. JeanÂ

Probably the arms for various cities and those are the names above them. Sorry. I can't make out the details. (Hmmm time for a new monitor?)

Great shot of multi varied subject matter in this unique photograph. Unfortunately, the zoom is barely larger than the original, so any further interpretation is extraordinarily difficult. I assume the clock still keeps the correct time.

Fantastic shot of this well preserved facade. I believe weesel is on the right track. I think the words with the symbols are cities or provinces or even important families of the time with their coats of arms . It reminds me of Of the Cantons in Switzerland with their individual symbols. As for the writing underneath I suspect it is old German and would be difficult for anyone other than a historian to decipher. Thanks for sharing this wonderful old facade which I think is the old Town hall of Lindau.

this is a very beautiful image!

The old town hall of Lindau was build in 1422 to 1436. The facade was painted in the 19th century with motives of the story of Lindau and refreshed in 1930 with some new themes. What you see on the picture are the emblems of some old families of Lindau, maybe investors of the town hall. Under the clock means that the town hall was build on place of an old vineyard in 1422-1436. Over the clock is the old emblem of Austria. Austria is next to the city of Lindau.
