Description
Captured 9/19/10, at Fort Tejon, near the city of Lebec, California, about 92 miles from my place. These comfortably seated onlookers were there for a Civil War reenactment, which, because of a surprising lack of Yank and Rebel soldiers, didn't live up to its name, at least as far as scope is concerned. They fired off a cannon for battle effects, and there were some minor skirmishes between a small amount of participants, but that was about it. In order to justify the long trip, I did get in some nice shots overall, which included scenes of the cool nearby hills, but came away disappointed. After all, I had come all that distance to see and record lots of people engaged in warfare.
Ciao.

Looks like they have some prime seats, Harry.

This looks just like Fort Davis, which was a frontier post in SW Tx. Nice shot. Sorry the reenactment was disappointing.

It's beautiful surroundings, at least; reminds me of something I vaguely remember hearing in the 1960s, "what if they gave a war and no one came?" That is a long way to go for a disappointing outcome. It looks hot and dry out there! Excellent capture of this big waiting game, Harry!

I could never understand these things; wasn't one war enough-- Why make it happen again?

If studios have been making war movies since time immemorial, why not this? Another reason is because it's spectacular and part of our heritage, just like watching fireworks on the Fourth of July, Maz.

With Cali's ever-increasing anti gun laws and propaganda, it is amazing anyone showed up to put on the show...
