Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

There are times when I look at images and feel all sorts of "other" associations. This one is making me think of tea in ornate glasses, probably with metal glass holders, while in the distance, countless people haggle at the local souk, only I don't care because I'm drinking tea (and maybe enjoying a bit of shisha) on an ornate rug spread over bare ground. Yeah. That's the image I get in my mind in looking at this, and as I look at this, I also feel as if I'm seeing another world through stained glass. It's a bit more appealing that having to get to Narnia by entering a wardrobe--and I hear Narnia isn't what it used to be, anyway...I much prefer whatever world you've captured here, as seen thorough one of those stained glass windows that very few people can find. This is amazing. It's an instant favorite.

This is one of those images where your postwork gets the essence of your subject to a tee. Super-real. The composition---with all these lantern-like things hanging down from above---makes it seem like a big glass curtain, with the opening on the bottom. And your undulating glass-like postwork makes these things sing. They have the feeling of stained glass light---I mean the light emanating from stained glass. And the metal (silver?) vessels below are beautiful contrast; and your background is a big flurry of amoeba-like energies. A splendid image, with the richness that was associated with moorish/arabic designs of previous centuries. Terrific job, Andrea.

You need sunglasses to look at that display.
