It's Mr Echidna! Echidnas are the oldest surviving mammals on the planet today. They are super friendly, and this one even let us pat it. It's safe, providing that your hand travels the correct way along the spines! NEVER go back the other way!

Cute little fellow. But someone I'd NOT want to step on, even with shoes on! So watch your step. Friendly, yes, because none dare to attack this little "cactus" of a fellow. So he can afford to be friendly. Same goes for hedge hogs. Do you have more photos of him? If so, please post! :-)
