Description

Special Notes: Well, I had my first ambulance ride. Yea, it was close. I almost died. Yep, The End, Last Chapter. I'm still kind of sickish, but maintaining, barely, my sugar keeps plummeting for no reason. (Please no pity statements). So, anyway, it was hilarious. Hurt, but hilarious. I had an insulin induced hypoglycemic episode. No idea why, just one of those things. Sugar levels dropped two-hundred points, during dinner, in something like fifteen minutes. You're saying, "So, what's so hilarious about that?" Well, I'm eating and thought I was just hungry and nom nom nom. But I started sweating, shaking, yea, diabetic shock. So i checked my sugar and it was fifty-two... checked again... forty-seven... checked again... forty-three... I'm thinking to myself, oh crap, this is seriously bad, I'm going to pass out. Yea, that happened. So, I knew I only had seconds to save my life. I grabbed an emergency coke from the fridge and downed it while calling 911 and unlocking and opening the door before blacking out. So, next memory is on a stretcher. The paramedic is asking me questions. I tell him numbers, and what I ate, and the emergency coke to quickly get some sugar. Here it comes... the hilarious part. The paramedic says, "Coke isn't good, it's only a sugar spike. You should have made some broth soup and a peanut butter sandwich. "Huh?" So, this paramedic obviously picked me up from next to my kitchen table, where he could easily see the mashed potatoes, the pork tenderloin, the green beans.... and knowing I only had seconds to get sugar inside me before face-planting. He thinks I'm going to stop and make soup and a peanut butter sandwich. "Here's your sign."

Zam went to the hospital with me. I keep an emergency backpack ready at all times. Zam normally sits on the table and Zan is on a shelf in the back room. (remember, I had a hand-made Zam and Zan life like dolls made). For some reason, I don't remember putting him there, but Zam was in my backpack when I got to the hospital.

OH MY LORD! That is scary. My husband says he is impressed at how well you kept your head in a very life-threatening situation. Clear head, no panic, take care of the details needed then and only then, pass out. That paramedic is so typical of today's crop - quote the book no matter what the situation. I am so glad you are recovering. Hopefully you will figure out why this happened and get it under control. You have a lot of chapters left in you!

Pitiful the way the medic dictated what you should have done, and really pitiful that you keep Zam in a backpack, how is the poor pitiful creature supposed to breath in there, and really pitiful you do not keep the brothers together, I pity them, the poor pitiful souls! (Or maybe he knew his Papa needed him and TDS'd into the pack) Okay so that was a pitiful comment, but you know I could not resist being a pitiful bother when you had a major crisis like that! Seriously, if it had to happen, I am so happy you made it through and coming around nicely, take care my amazing Wolf. Carry a themos of broth soup and buy lots of peanut butter, the medic may be hungry if he ever (hopefully never) has to make that trip again! After my first 'ride the white wagon' I spent 8 days in the ICU section, not much fun! (Not the same problem though)

Zam can move around on his own. I've seen it, not joking. I knew there was an explanation, but couldn't figure it out. I would set him on the shelf, and later his head and arms would be in different positions. I thought perhaps the cats were brushing against him, so I bought a display cabinet, and had the same results. Zam kept shifting position. Then I noticed Zan did the same. Well, a doll collector finally told me what was going on. There is a elastic string that runs from head to arms to torso to legs, and back. It's what holds them together. At night when the temperature changes, the elastic strings contract and shift the positions of the dolls.

You are so very lucky for your cool head in your time of emergency! My wife had a similar incident. I awoke to her hand jerking up and down slapping me in the face. I yelled at her to stop as I turned on the lights and once they were on, I saw she was in trouble. I immediately got 911 and luckily paramedics were only 5 minutes away. They took her sugar reading and it didn't even register on their meter. Fortunately, long story short, she got the attention she needed in time and is still with me. She really watches her sugar much more closely since then and hasn't had an incident since. (Knock on wood). I love what your 'dolls' are doing to you! I do believe they are really full of mischief and are playing with you! Take care, friend Wolf! And may you never have to go through this scary time again! A most beautiful image here! Love it!

since you were already eating a healthy, well-balanced meal, clearly more well-balanced food was not going to help you! Sounds like you did just the right thing with the Coke. That was seriously bad advice from that guy. I hope they figure out what's going on with you!
