I have seen cats doing that. former clients would ask me not to turn the water off completely so their felines could drink. a Malamute I used to have would turn the faucet on. so I had to move the patio fence out to enclose the faucet. I was working at a restaurant repairing things and while outside working on a window a man came jogging by with a big Lab. the dog suddenly stopped, and the owner looked puzzled until he seen a restaurant employee washing the sidewalk. the dog wanted a drink from the hose and was polite enough to wait until the owner said okay and the man was agreeable also
