Description

Just testing out rendering Carrara Hair in Octane and trying a couple of subtle experiments. I'm liking what can be done so far and it can only improve as the integration of hair into the plugin is (as yet) a work in progress. This uses a stock V4 with Raven shaders and Paige Hair. I hope you like this. Thanks for dropping by! Phil

that looks awesome Phil! what is the render time in Octane compared to normal Carrara rendering?

Rendering in Octane can be very fast. I let this run for one hour, which was 1000 S/px, but apart from some minor noise reduction, it looked pretty much like this in only a few minutes. Since this uses SSS, depth of field, area lights with soft shadows, HDRI background lighting, soft reflections... this would take an eternity in Carrara with the same sort of settings. A rare example of faster AND higher quality! And I am only running on a laptop and not some super high powered system.

i guess i should go for octane soon!:) My latest picture took about 6 hours with network rendering (my i7 computer andmy i7 notebook) and i don't want to think about how long it would have taken if the resolution was more than 1400px andalso with depth of field and so.

Very nice, currently browsing on my phone and it could easily be mistaken for a photo. Out of curiosity are you using tonysculptor's strand based hair materials or have you created your own?

PhilW

That's my own materials. Are tonysculptor's strand based hair materials in the online materials database?

Loving your hair in Octane. This is bugging me though. I also have Raven, but I can't figure out who she looks like. Is she meant to be Megan Fox? I know Elena is Scarlett Johansson. 😃

Yes, I think she is based on Megan Fox.
