Description
I searched BugGuide for two hours looking for pale green beetles with massive mandibles. Turns out this is a weevil - A Golden-Headed Weevil !! Technically it is in the beetle family (a subspecies), which I didn't know till today.

The second link explains that the Golden-Headed Weevil is often found near Pecan trees, and there's one in my back yard, so that makes sense. He is 1/2 inch long, a bit smaller than a dime. Taken early this morning.
This really looks better in zoom to check out those huge mandibles. Thanks very much for your views and comments!

How strange and wonderful; Andrea is right, it does appear to be wearing a sweater, as well as a walrus moustache. And those mandibles are fearsome! Great capture!
