Description
Chiron Du'rande's family had had close ties to the oligarchic rulers of the Culair Republic before it had been absorbed into the Breslan Confraternity - and like most of the other oligarchs, they hadn't been happy about the merger. Breslan returned the feeling in kind. Chiron was accepted as operative of the secret police years later, but he did remember what had happened to his family when he was still a child. When the opportunity came up during a diplomatic mission to Kalla'thea, he jumped ship and joined the Allnaydi instead.
He made it his personal mission to find proof that Breslan had actually been deeply infiltrated by certain Yassar institutions, but he came up empty every time. He still remained convinced that there was a secret connection between the Yassar and their supposedly most zealous enemies.
Chiron encountered a very talented young musician by the name of Zinaida Teloure during one of his undercover missions and coaxed her into enlisting with the Allnaydi Guard. Little did he know, that he should have run for his life instead. Surprisingly the other Allnaydi did not kill him either, after she became their boss and started to turn the Guard inside out.
He and Teloure remained close friends and stayed in contact even when Chiron voluntarily retired eventually.
Upon special request, Chiron moved his seat of residence to Tafoure, to keep an eye on things after Sirtai Amiris' demise. He actually managed to establish a cordial relationship with the new Sultana, Sitha es Che, (once her former 'adviser' Kaidar Gerinour was out of the picture). This way, nobody was able to claim that the Allnaydi were exerting any undue influence in the Sultanate.
That actually gave him some ideas how the Yassar had been manipulating Breslan all along...
