Description
Splendid castle on a summit above the Alsace Plain (between France and Germany).
The first one was built aroun the XIth century, and, after mainy adventures, was destroyed in the XVIIth and rebuilt in 1900 by Emperor (Kayser) William II von Hohenzollern; in this period (1871-1918), Alsace was belonging to Germany. Since 1919 it is a part of France and the castle is now a national monument.
I visited it recently... for the third time in my life (or more? as my family is native from the mountains called Vosges, in this area).
Here you see the castle from the alsatian french vineyards facing the german Schwarzwald (which is 25-30 km far).
Cheers!
