As I've said before, your multi color work often reminds me of Matisse's "gouaches découpés". This image is beautifully done. First, the woman's torso is the centerpiece: It flows from her breast-line straight down through her beautifully flared bottom of her gown. Her torso reminds me of some of Klimt's females; and it's the 'anchor' to her body...Second, her shawl (in a beautiful medium-blue) drapes off of her arms, and it flows down and embraces her whole body---beautifully done. It has "embrace". Third, you use a few patches of pale yellow for her shoulders and her neck. And then you have two black arms---painted in beautiful segments (for upper arm, lower arm, wrist, etc); and then two pale orange (or tan) segments for her hair; then a simple face (two eyes and two lips---in joy): With all this, her upper torso is splayed in utter joy. Your minimal way of portraying the complex human body is beautiful. You use only the shapes necessary for your vision. And it looks like a cutout, but it feels like a whole human being. And she's reaching out in joy. Finally, the deep flare of her gown, at bottom, acts like a "pedestal" for her body. Also beautifully done. Beautiful work, Yves...and if this is a new style, bravo! It's joyfully done and articulated.

Exemplary - the coloring and pose remind me so much of vintage travel posters and playbills.
